Her PhD thesis interrogated the role of power and privilege in the construction and expansion of an alternative-provisioning strategy for social change. She looked particularly at the imaginaries and discourses embedded in sustainability-oriented alternative practices, as well as at the socio-economic and political structures that maintain and institutionalize (certain) alternative practices. She paid special attention to alternative food and community-organized energy provisioning initiatives.
